Come Ahead!

If I had my choice between the ocean or the mountains…I would choose both. I’d like to find a place that is equal driving distance. Because, let’s face it, sometimes I feel like hiking up the mountain and sometimes I’m just not that interested in working up a sweat!

Lately, I’ve been working out my faith muscles, and it seems that hanging out on the beach is a lot harder than it looks…Here’s what I mean…

Our relationship with the Lord is like an all expense paid trip to the ocean. (Sweet, huh?)  He has invited us to engage with him and delight in His beauty.

Some of us are on the sand, enjoying the beauty, but not quite participating. Others are barely getting wet, the water just covers their feet. Some have ventured out a bit more where the water is up to their waist.  Some have gone so far out, they can no longer feel the sand.

Regardless of our current location, he calls out to us. He encourages us to journey a little deeper into his heart. Often, the opportunity presents itself through challenging circumstances or transitions in our lives.

27  But Jesus was quick to comfort them. “Courage, it’s me. Don’t be afraid.”28 Peter, suddenly bold, said, “Master, if it’s really you, call me to come to you on the water.” 29-30 He said, “Come ahead.”
-Matthew 14:27-30 Msg

If you’re like me (and Peter), the invitation can be a bit frightening. It’s as if I can hear him saying, “Come on honey, you’ve been in this place too long. Let’s go on an adventure. I want to show you something. Come on out!”

Sometimes, I am bold and I am ready to jump in! More often than not, I second guess myself…and The Master’s voice. Each day, I’m learning to trust Him…to answer when He calls.

Truth is, He won’t let go of me. Or you. He’s faithful to complete the work he started.

So let’s be brave! Let’s venture out a little further. He’s calling!
